Southeast Asia's flagship art fair and the January anchor of the regional collecting calendar. The fair floor matters less than the week around it: gallery dinners, museum openings and the private previews where the real conversations happen.

Who you will find: Collectors and museum patrons from across Asia, gallery principals, the Singapore family-office set out in force.

The VIP preview day is the fair; ask early, as allocations tighten each year.

Late January into February, across the old town and Charoenkrung

The week the city's creative economy shows its depth, and the best annual excuse to walk districts of Bangkok that private life otherwise bypasses. Useful ground for anyone investing in Thai hospitality or retail.

Who you will find: Design principals, hospitality developers, the young Thai creative establishment and the families who fund it.

Pair evening openings with the riverside restaurants; the district is at its best after dark.

Annually in late February, Siam Country Club

World-class women's golf an hour from Bangkok, and quietly one of the better corporate-hosting weeks in the Thai calendar. The pro-am places are the asset.

Who you will find: Sponsors' guests, the Thai corporate establishment, serious amateur golfers with the right introductions.

Combine with an Eastern Seaboard property day; the venue sits in the middle of our portfolio country.

January or February by the lunar calendar, region-wide

Asia's great annual migration. Two weeks when the region's Chinese business world closes, travels and feasts, and when Bangkok and Phuket receive their largest wave of Chinese visitors. Plan capital-city business around it, not into it.

Who you will find: Half of Asia, in motion.

Hotels in Bangkok and the islands price accordingly; residents book their own escapes early or stay home happily.

Annually in late March, Convention Centre and citywide

Asia's most consequential art week. For a few days the region's serious collectors, dealers and museum boards are all within a square mile, and the satellite dinners outrank the fair for actual dealmaking.

Who you will find: The apex of Asian collecting, global gallery principals, auction-house leadership, family offices with art allocations.

Hotels within walking distance book out months ahead; so do the restaurants that matter that week.

Annually, a spring weekend at Kai Tak

The most social fixture in Asian sport. The corporate boxes are a decades-old institution where Hong Kong finance entertains itself, and an invitation says as much as the rugby.

Who you will find: Banking and trading floors entire, regional CEOs, and everyone's most entertaining friends.

The box list is the point. We can usually find a seat for a partner who asks early.

13 to 15 April, nationwide in Thailand

Thai New Year: three days when the country stops, celebrates, and soaks itself. For residents it is the year's great logistical fact: travel peaks, staff go home, and the wise plan around it rather than through it.

Who you will find: Everyone. The question is whether you are in the water fight or watching it from a villa.

Book the island escape or embrace Silom's chaos; the untenable position is a business schedule.

Annually in early April, Suzuka

The purists' race at the purists' circuit, timed to cherry-blossom season. The combination of Suzuka's Paddock Club and a Kyoto week after has become a fixture for the region's motorsport families.

Who you will find: The serious end of Asian motorsport money, Japanese industry, paddock guests from across the region.

Blossom-season hotels are the constraint, not race tickets. Plan the week, not the weekend.

The May full moon, nationwide in Thailand

The holiest day of the Thai Buddhist year, and a quiet one: alcohol sales pause, the temples fill, and the country shows the contemplative face that underlies everything else. Worth experiencing properly at least once.

Who you will find: The nation at temple. Respectful guests are welcome.

A candlelit evening circumambulation at a great temple is among the most beautiful things Thailand offers.

June through August, Andaman coast

Green season on the Andaman side: soft rates, empty beaches between showers, and the islands at their most private. The contrarian's window for villa trials, school visits and unhurried property viewing.

Who you will find: Residents who know, and visitors advised well.

The sea is livelier; the Gulf side (Samui) runs its calm season now. Choose coasts by month.

July and August, citywide

When the Gulf escapes its heat, Bangkok becomes one of its favourite rooms. The medical calendars, hotel suites and halal fine-dining tables fill with GCC families on their annual circuit, and the city adjusts gracefully around them.

Who you will find: Gulf families on the summer migration, and the institutions that host them well.

Annually in early September, COEX

The fair that confirmed Seoul as Asia's second collecting capital. Younger, faster money than Hong Kong's March, with Korean conglomerate patronage and a gallery scene that has become a destination in itself.

Who you will find: Korean chaebol collections, regional contemporary collectors, global galleries' Asia teams.

Pairs naturally with the Gwangju and Busan biennales in their years.

Annually in the autumn, Singapore

The region's densest room of institutional capital and policy in one hotel for two days. The programming is good; the coffee queues are better, which is the point of such things.

Who you will find: Sovereign funds, asset owners, family-office principals, the policy establishment of the region.

Delegate places are applied for, not bought casually. Start early or arrive as someone's guest.

Annually, a night-race weekend in the early autumn

The night race is Asia's Monaco: three evenings when the region's capital, from banks to families to funds, entertains at full wattage trackside. More regional business is settled Paddock Club to Paddock Club that weekend than in most conference seasons.

Who you will find: Everyone with a regional P&L and their best clients. The hospitality suites are the real grid.

Paddock Club and the trackside suites allocate early; the good dinner tables that weekend allocate earlier.

Late October into November, harbourfront and citywide

The month the city's formidable cellar culture goes public: festival, auctions and the trade tastings around them. Hong Kong's zero wine duty makes it the region's cellar door, and this is its open week.

Who you will find: The Asian fine-wine trade, auction consignors and bidders, serious private cellars.

The auction previews are the discreet way in; we can arrange the introductions.

Invitation gatherings through autumn, Singapore and Hong Kong

The serious end of the wealth calendar is unlisted: single-family-office roundtables, principals' dinners and the invitation summits that publish no agendas. Autumn in Singapore is their densest season.

Who you will find: Principals and their chief investment officers; discreetly, some of the most interesting people in Asia.

Access is entirely relational. This is precisely the sort of door a private office exists to open.

Annually in early November, citywide

Tokyo's galleries, museums and private collections open in coordinated fashion for a week that rewards the patient collector: less fair, more city. The Japanese market's understatement is its charm and its opportunity.

Who you will find: Collectors who prefer studios to booths, institutional curators, the quieter end of Asian collecting.

The private-collection visits are the treasure; they require asking, which is what we are for.

The November full moon, nationwide in Thailand

Thailand's most beautiful night: the country sets a million candles afloat. In Chiang Mai it coincides with Yi Peng's lanterns, which is as close to collective enchantment as any evening in Asia offers.

Who you will find: Everyone, at their gentlest.

A riverside table in Bangkok or a Chiang Mai rooftop; both book out the moment dates are announced.

Annually in late November, Bangtao

Three decades old and still the island's fittest social weekend: a genuine race wrapped in a resort house-party. The finish-line breakfast is where half of west-coast Phuket society catches up.

Who you will find: Executive athletes, the Laguna estate community, wellness-minded families.

Relay entries let the household compete together; the villa estates around Bangtao fill that week.

Annually in early December, Kata

Asia's longest-standing regatta and the start of the Andaman high season. The racing is real; the shoreside week is the Andaman sailing community's annual assembly.

Who you will find: Regional yacht owners and crews, the marine industry, Kata's December society.

Charter early if you want to race rather than watch; good boats with good crews are finite.

December through February, Andaman sea

The fleet arrives with the northeast wind: the Andaman's flat-calm months draw serious tonnage to Phuket's marinas and the anchorages beyond. The season's private rendezvous and owner dinners happen afloat and unannounced.

Who you will find: Owners, their guests, and the small industry that keeps both happy.

Phang Nga Bay at dawn from a good deck justifies the entire season. Charters concentrate here; book by October.

Annually in mid December, Sha Tin

The 'turf world championships' and Hong Kong society's great December fixture. The Jockey Club's hospitality remains among the most polished anywhere, and the boxes are their own social register.

Who you will find: The racing establishment of two hemispheres, Hong Kong's old money, international owners.

Member badges and box invitations move through relationships; December visitors should ask in October.

Annually in mid December, The Fields, Siam Country Club

Thailand's answer to the boutique-festival genre: art, music, wellness and gastronomy on its own grounds, done with unusual taste. The private-camp tier has quietly become a regional society fixture.

Who you will find: A knowing crowd from Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong; founders and creatives with their families.

The villa-and-driver pattern beats camping; the Eastern Seaboard estates are twenty minutes away.

Annually at year's end, Bangkok

The night the Thai dining year is scored, and the starting gun for a season of impossible reservations. The chef-table circuit reorganises around the new stars within a week.

Who you will find: The kingdom's chefs and restaurateurs, the food press, and diners who plan by the guide.
