Longevity and preventive medicine in Thailand

Thailand quietly became one of Asia's centres for preventive and longevity medicine, with hospital-grade screening at accessible prices and a resort tier that pairs diagnostics with genuine restoration. For residents, an annual health architecture here costs less than a single Western executive physical.

The three tiers

The market organises into three layers worth distinguishing. The hospital tier: executive screening programmes at Bumrungrad, Samitivej, MedPark and peers, full-day diagnostics from cardiac imaging to cancer markers, at ฿30,000 to 120,000 depending on depth. The clinic tier: dedicated longevity and functional-medicine practices in Bangkok offering hormone optimisation, advanced biomarker panels, IV therapies and physician-led programmes of varying evidential rigour. The resort tier: destination programmes, the Chiva-Som and Kamalaya tier and the newer medical-wellness resorts, where diagnostics meet residential reset weeks at ฿150,000 to 500,000.

What is genuinely strong

Discernment matters at the clinic tier. Alongside serious physician-led practices sits a market of fashionable therapies with thin evidence. Our counsel: anchor on hospital-grade diagnostics and named physicians, treat experimental modalities as experiments, and let claims that outrun published evidence pay for themselves with scepticism.

Building an annual architecture

The pattern our partners settle into: a deep annual screen at a chosen hospital, with the same physician year over year so trends, not snapshots, drive decisions; quarterly biomarker follow-ups where something is being managed; dental and dermatological cycles on the same calendar; and a resort week when the year has charged a price worth repaying. Records kept in one file, shared across providers, and increasingly reviewed alongside wearable data the physicians here are comfortable using.

For the household

The same architecture extends naturally to spouses, to teenagers entering sport seasons, and, most valuably, to visiting parents, for whom a Bangkok screening week attached to a family visit has caught more than one condition early. Medical records transfer, interpreters where needed, and the scheduling that makes a screening week feel like a hotel stay are exactly the sort of quiet logistics our office exists to run.

The honest frame

Longevity medicine's frontier is contested; its foundation is not. Early detection, managed cardiovascular and metabolic risk, sleep, strength and the absence of chronic stress do the overwhelming share of the work, and Thailand delivers that foundation with unusual grace and value. Build on the foundation here, spend on the frontier only with evidence, and the country will repay the attention with years.
